Our members’ campaign, questioning the pay of students’ union full timers and challenging their seats, has obviously created a threat and a viable alternative to their running of the union. It has had a very good response on campus and massive support by the student population.
Rush e-mails protesting at this repression to:
The Dean of Students at Jerusalem University at: hannah@cc.huji.ac.il
Dear Dean,
we have received the below report from fellow students in Jerusalem. We here in the Students Union in University College Dublin Ireland are very concerned that students who try to participate freely in the political activities in your university are being oppressed.
We call on you to allow students the freedom to form their own political parties or groupings.
We call on you to allow any student to be allowed to run in the students union elections without fear of repercussions.
"Members of Maavak Socialisti (CWI Israel) and other students at Jerusalem University are facing vicious repression for standing in elections in the student union leadership. The university security has prevented meetings from taking place, confiscated leaflets and taken down all posters. In practice this means that only the student organisations of the government parties can organise political activity in the university. The slate, Student Social Front, includes Israeli and Palestinian students and is in opposition to the current right wing leadership. One member, who works on campus, has been sacked and the Palestinian student on our slate has been denied his rights including additional time for his studies in a second language, Hebrew. This is clearly an attack on the right to organise but also a way of intimidating Palestinians and all students from being politically active and opposing the existing union leadership.
Our members' campaign, questioning the pay of students' union full timers and challenging their seats, has obviously created a threat and a viable alternative to their running of the union. It has had a very good response on campus and massive support by the student population."
yours sincerely

Comrade,
Solidarity greetings from Sussex Socialist Students (England). Just wanted to let you know we all admire the courage you are displaying in the present situation of oppression in the Palestine-Israel conflict. It is admirable to see that you are prepared to stand up and show that there is an alternative to the imperialist led system of violence which is currently in place. You are fighting the good fight!
Good luck,
Toby Osmond.
