Support the 450 workers of Tadiran Kesher Factory
The 450 workers of Tadiran Kesher in Israel are on strike since 11 November.
They are demanding the continuation of the collective contract, which they won after a militant struggle in the 1990’s, after the transfer of ownership of the factory to the company Elbit, that bought it and is notorious for it’s policy against workers’ orgnisations.

The profits of Tadrian, which produces most of the Israeli army’s communication equipment, have grown by 22% in the last quarter. However, the management still evades its obligations regarding workers’ pension rights, refuses to increase wages, and also threatens to sack 150 workers in order to break the union, that is known for its militancy, and has so far refused all the managment’s attempts to buy it off.

The workers, experienced in strikes, have occupied the factory and are prevnting the transer of goods in and out. They are running an active strike, accompanied by demonstations and daily protests in front of other workplaces owned by the owners of Elbit.

International support is necessary for the continued resistance of the workers despite management’s pressure and for the continuation of the strike.

As the management has cut electricty to the factory, messages of support will be passed throughh Maavak Sozialisti, the Israeli affilate of the CWI, and we will pass them onto the workers.

Please send solidarity massages to feedback@maavak.org.il

You have the full support of the Exeter Branch of the Socialist Party

England and Wales. Although we may be hundreds of miles away, we are
also
facing similar attacks on our livelihoods and our jobs. It is only
through
unity and solidarity we can defeat these attacks. We wish you all the
luck
in your struggle and hope for a good outcome.

Support for the Strike at Tadiran Kesher

Friends

I have just received e-mail from our International Organisation the
CWI,
telling about your strike.

It is nice for a change to get news from Israel which shows the Workers
side
of life.

Right now in Ireland we have a strike amongst workers in the company
"Irish
Ferries" which is trying to openly sack its workers who have like
yourselves
won over the years proper Trade Union conditions. They intend replace
them
with other EU Workers from the East and pay them a less than one
quarter of
the normal rates of pay.

The Bosses the world over never miss a trick and it is vital we respond
to
them everywhere.

Keep up the good fight. We will be watching with interest and will
support
you any way we can.

Regards
Mick Murphy (Socialist Party, Elected Representative for Tallagh, on
South
Dublin County Council).

TADIRAN KESHER STRIKE

I am writing to express my support for the strike at the above factory.

Workers should have a fair share of the increased profits the company has recently made and should ensure that they have adequate pensions in requirement

Message of support for Tadiran Kesher Workers

Dear fellow workers,

I am writing as an elected councillor for the Socialist Party in Dublin Ireland, and a shop-steward representing hundreds of workers in the national airline Aer Lingus to send you our fraternal support for the heroic struggle that you are engaged in with your employers.

We have followed the dispute with interest and have been very impressed with your militant and determined stance in order to ensure the continuation of your collective agreement negotiated in the 1990s when the company changed ownership. There is no doubt that the company is attempting to break the resolve of workers and smash the union in other to further their exploitation. It is an absolute disgrace that such a company, which continues to record massive levels of profits is threatening to sack workers, failing to honour pension rights, and refusing to pay wage increases.

Unfortunately this is an international trend, with the neo-liberal agenda taking place everywhere as the employers attack public services and hard won workers rights in their drive for ever more profits. The only choice workers have is to make a stand as you have. A famous Irish Labour leader Jim Larkin used to mobilise workers with the phrase, “the great appear great only because we are on our knees, let us rise!” You have risen and your struggle is in all our interests.

We wish you every success and solidarity.

Yours fraternally,

Councillor Clare Daly

Solidarity message - 450 workers of Tadiran Kesher

To the striking workers of Tadiran Kesher

We have heard of your marvelous struggle in Israel through our sister organisation of the CWI.

I have circulated our members in the Northern Region of England, and will keep them informed of any developments in your strike action. Unfortunately, workers in Britain (and worldwide) face a similar onslaught against pay and conditions. Bosses organise internationally, therefore it is vital that workers and their trade unions also organise internationally.

Yours in solidarity
Elaine Brunskill

Message of Solidarity for Striking Tadrian Workers

I support the 450 workers of Tadiran Kesher Factory.

The brave and resolute 450 workers of Tadiran Kesher in Israel are on
strike since November 11th. They are demanding the continuation of the
collective contract, which they won after a militant struggle in the
1990's, after the transfer of ownership of the factory to the company
Elbit, that bought it and is notorious for its policy against workers'
orgnisations.

The profits of Tadrian, which produces most of the Israeli army's
communication equipment, have grown by 22% in the last quarter.
However,
the management still evades its obligations regarding workers' pension
rights, refuses to increase wages, and also threatens to sack 150
workers
in order to break the union, that is known for its militancy, and has
so
far refused all the managment's attempts to buy it off.

The workers, experienced in strikes, have occupied the factory and are
preventing the transer of goods in and out. They are running an active
strike, accompanied by demonstations and daily protests in front of
other
workplaces owned by the owners of Elbit. It was militant tactics such
as
this that won the historic U.S. Teamsters strike in Minneapolis in 1934
and
the great automotive worker sit-down strikes that followed. Your
militant
tactics will win because you are united and cannot be broken apart.

International progressive labor supports the continued resistance of
the
workers despite management's pressure and for the continuation of the
strike. Workers of good will worldwide support your strike and will
offer
all solidarity.

I applaud the courageous Tadrian workers and wish you success in your
historic struggle for justice. Your militant tactics and determination
to
win the strike will bring success and justice. I will spread the word
about your most inspiring and effective strike.
